Jerusha West is a British visual artist and filmmaker.
Her films take the form of psychological dramas, characterised by a lyrical realist style that draws deeply from her background in fine art.
Her upcoming short film, Stinging Nettles, produced by Sydney Oberfeld and Luke Tierney, will premiere at the London Short Film Festival in 2026. She has written her debut feature and has recently completed an Arts Council England–funded film project under the mentorship of producer Pinky Ghundale.
Her previous short, Sea Holly (2024), produced by Tuli Litvak and executive-produced by Ameenah Ayub Allen, premiered at British Shorts Berlin in 2024. Her debut short, Solidago (2021), screened internationally and was selected for Leiden Shorts, Suffolk Shorts, and GRRL HAUS Festival. It also screened at the BFI-backed, BIFA-qualifying Women X Film Festival in 2024, where it received seven nominations and won Best Cinematography. The film was featured by Girls in Film, Minute Shorts, Wul Collective, Kodak Shoot Film, and BFI Sight & Sound (March 2022).
A graduate of The Slade School of Fine Art (2017), Jerusha has exhibited widely, including at The Saatchi Gallery, Belmacz Gallery, Tramps, and Arusha Gallery. Working across mediums, drawing remains central to her practice, exploring fleeting narrative moments through a balance of surreal mark-making and grounded imagery. Her awards include an Arts Council England DYCP Grant (2023–24) and The Slade Bursary Prize (2013–17).
She has also worked professionally as an actor, performing in theatres across the UK, including Leeds Grand Theatre, Chichester Festival Theatre, The Oxford Playhouse, and The Arts Theatre, London.
